In the southeast, US reaction forces, including an A-10 and Harrier warplanes and fast moving infantry, killed two Afghans involved in an attack on a US base.
Russia will provide facilities and some instructors for training a new Afghan border guard. The training will take place in neighboring Tajikistan.
