Poland has received the first Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany. With the end of the Cold War and the shrinking of the German armed forces, there was a lot of fairly modern equipment that became surplus. Rather than junk it, Germany is giving a lot of it away to new NATO members. The Leopard tanks will equip a Polish armored brigade. All of Poland's other tanks are Russian T-72s and T-55s.
